In Loving Memory
Charles "Chuck" Merrill Bonzey III, of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2026, at the age of 78, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on September 17, 1947, to Dr. Charles M. Bonzey Jr. and Eleanor (Look) Bonzey.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen (O'Brien) Bonzey; their four children and seven grandchildren: Meredith, her husband, Chris L'Hommedieu, and their children, Ellie and Connor; Carrie, her husband, Christopher Weaver, and their children, Elizabeth and Charles; Colin Bonzey, his wife, Courtney (Murphy), and their children, Nolan, Harrison, and Caden; and Cavan Bonzey. He is also survived by his siblings, Bradley, Bruce, and Pamela, as well as her husband, Paul Busa.
A lifelong resident of Framingham, Chuck graduated from the University of Maine in 1971 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he began a long-lasting career with General Motors, retiring in 2006. Although Chuck was integral to the company's automotive manufacturing plants in Framingham, Tarrytown, Pontiac, and Linden, he would have been the first to tell you that he knew very little about the cars themselves.
Chuck was hardworking, dependable, and always up for a project. Over the years, he planned, purchased new tools for, and completed countless projects at his home and at the homes of many family members and friends.
A perfect day for Chuck meant enjoying a cheeseburger with fries and a Diet Coke, cheering on the Red Sox, watching the boats pass by the family's cottage on Holiday Beach in Owls Head, Maine, and a game of cribbage.
Above all, Chuck loved his family and friends. He was incredibly proud of his children and found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He cared deeply for the people in his life and valued the many friendships he made over the years.
Family and friends will honor and remember Chuck's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham, on Tuesday, September 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St., Wayland. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery, 1 Fenwick St., Framingham.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Chuck and provided good company over the past few years. A special thanks to Nan Berry, Bathsheba Fontes, and the team at MetroWest Home Care and Hospice for all their support.
